Browsing

You can use the whole catalog without signing in or giving us anything. The "Rate my wishlist" tool reads the text you paste, looks the games up, and shows the result. That text answers the request and is not stored or linked to you.

Steam sign-in

Signing in is optional and uses Steam OpenID, so we never see your Steam password. If you do sign in, we store your public SteamID, your Steam persona name, your avatar URL, whether your profile is public, and your owned games with playtime plus your wishlist. That is what builds the For You board and marks games you already own. The owned and wishlist lists are replaced on each sync, not appended. We keep them until you delete them.

Signing out clears your session and leaves the stored rows in place. To remove them, use "Delete my data" on the For You page, which erases your profile, owned list, wishlist, and saved preferences.

The Library Leaderboard

The leaderboard is opt-in. If you opt in, your Steam persona name and your library stats (games scored, hours played, most-played genre, top pick) are shown publicly on that page. Opting out or deleting your data removes you from it.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to the weekly digest or a price alert, we store your email address and a token so you can unsubscribe. We use it to send that email and nothing else. Unsubscribing deletes it.

Payments

If you support the site, payment is handled by our payment provider. Card details go to them, never to us. We store only the fact that an account has an active supporter status.

Analytics

We run our own analytics rather than a third-party tracker, and it does not follow you to other sites. It records the page you viewed, the referring site, an approximate country, your browser type, how long the page was visible, and how far you scrolled. To count returning visitors it also stores a random visitor identifier in your browser, and it derives two values on the server: a hashed version of your IP address, and a device fingerprint hashed from your IP, browser, and language. Your raw IP address is not stored. It also records what you type into the site search, with the number of results it found, and which store link you click on a game page. Both are tied to the same visitor identifier and session. Records older than 90 days are deleted, these included. Clearing your browser storage resets the visitor identifier.

Your computer

On a desktop browser this site reads what it can about the machine you are using, so it can tell you whether a game will run on it. That is your operating system, an approximate memory figure, your processor core count, and your graphics card name where the browser will say. It happens automatically when a page loads. Nothing is asked of the operating system directly; these come from standard browser properties any site can read.

The detail stays in this browser, under the key sb_rig. What reaches our server is only what a filter needs: your operating system, the memory figure, and a 0 to 100 rank derived from the graphics card name. Those travel as visible query parameters on board requests, so you can see them in the address bar. The card name itself is not sent. Clearing your browser storage removes all of it, and the "Forget" button in the My PC panel does the same thing.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

This site shows ads through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits here and elsewhere on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies at aboutads.info, and read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

In the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, personalized ads and non-essential cookies require your consent. This site does not show a consent banner of its own. Where Google shows its consent message, the choice you make there applies to the ads, and if you decline, this site's page-view analytics stops using its visitor identifier. You can also opt out of personalized ads everywhere using the Google Ads Settings link above, or block third-party cookies in your browser.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links to game stores may be affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It never changes a game's BANG Score or where it ranks.

Where the data comes from

Scores are derived from public sources: the Steam storefront and Web API, SteamSpy, HowLongToBeat, IsThereAnyDeal, and PCGamingWiki. Steam BANGERS is not affiliated with Valve, Steam, or those services.

Your rights

If you have signed in with Steam, "Delete my data" on the For You page erases your profile, owned list, wishlist, and preferences. Newsletter emails are deleted by unsubscribing. Where privacy law (such as the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA) applies, you have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information and to opt out of personalized advertising, which you can do through the ad controls above. We do not sell your personal information. For anything the self-serve controls do not cover, use the contact page.
