What drives the score
How to read this
Every input gets a grade, S to D, read from the buyer's side. The score is multiplicative, so an input only counts as raising when it sits near the top of its own scale. Anything with real room left is holding the score back, because that room is the gap to 100. ▲ marks a lift, ▼ a drag or a dock, ? an input we do not have, • a fact this genre's score does not use. The exact weights stay secret.
The value story
The lowest price on record is $0.49, set in November 2014. 62 discounts in the 14 years on record. They run about 66 percent off, roughly 5 weeks apart. Today it is at full price. The last sale was about 5 weeks ago, and on this game's rhythm the next one tends to arrive within 5 weeks.
Value puts it in the top 5 percent of the games it competes with. It is cheaper than 73 percent of its genre, and better reviewed than 93 percent. Among the games that feel like it, Downwell ($0.74, scores 88) beats it on value, while it beats Never Split the Party (free, scores 44).
84 from critics against 95 percent from players, and the player number comes from people who own the game.
19 of the 800 Steam-purchase reviews sampled here come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written November 2024 to September 2026. Inside the two-hour refund window, 82 percent of the 5,829 reviews written there were positive, against 95 percent overall, and those are 12 percent of everything written about it.
HowLongToBeat players log 10.9 hours as a typical playtime, and completionists log 144, 13 times as much.

What players say
Ahhh yes, the good, nostalgic isaac built on flash engine- Its a big piece of history that shows the evolution of not only edmund mcmillen's games, but also roguelites in general. Not to mention absolutely gorgeous soundtracks made by Danny Baranosky, with my favourite being "respite". For this price this game is an absolute steal for the amount of content it provides, tho i must admit it has its own flaws. Aside...
the great tornado ridden by pecos bill tore my goldfish into puzzle pieces that were unsolvable, until i played the saac. the saac opened on steam with heavenly tomes, destroying any negative energy in a 250 mile radius. then it located every piece of my goldfish and reassembled it faster than cap pulling the mjolnir.
well it holds up as a very fun game but after playing repentance so much on my console it feels empty and just way worse in almost every aspect. While its a good game i wont recommend it because there's literally no reason to play this over repentance unless you like one of about 5 or less unique additions in this game that arent in rebirth. Im sure you all know this though i just wanna leave a review on every game...

The Binding of Isaac scores 87/100 on the BANG Score (a BANGER). The BANG Score rates what a game is worth for the money. Via Steam BANGERS. https://steambangers.com/game/113200/the-binding-of-isaacThe BANG Score is one number for value, 0 to 100: price against how it reviews and how long it was built to be. It answers the money question and stops there; whether the game is for you is still your call.
Reviews set the ceiling and price moves you inside it, so a cheap game that reviews badly cannot climb. Ratings from few reviewers are shrunk toward the middle, so 100 percent from nine people does not outrank 96 percent from ninety thousand. Length comes from HowLongToBeat where it can be matched, measured against a per-genre floor so a five-hour narrative game is judged against other narrative games rather than against a sixty-hour RPG. Where no verified length exists the score says so and carries a dock, because the biggest input is then a guess. The full method, including where it is weak → Steam reviews as of Sep 13, price as of Sep 24.
