The value story
The lowest price on record is $1.99, set in February 2025. It has been discounted 40 times in the 6 years tracked here, typically at 75 percent off, with about 6 weeks between sales.
It is pricier than 86 percent of its genre, and less well reviewed than 70 percent. Megabyte Punch ($14.99, scores 65) outscores it, and so does Streets of Rage 4 ($24.99, scores 81). Both sit among its closest neighbours.
This site sampled 800 of its Steam-purchase reviews; 12 were written by buyers who refunded it, sampled from reviews written November 2020 to August 2026. Inside the two-hour refund window, 53 percent of the 531 reviews written there were positive, against 68 percent overall, and those are 25 percent of everything written about it.
It carries Valve's Deck Verified rating and runs 4.2 hours, about as long as a handheld game wants to be.

What players say
The game brings back memories from the good ol' couch gaming. On the hardest difficulty it is an extreme challenge, especially in coop. Great challenges, game modes, good laughs.
Probably should've just beat this in one sitting. This game is alright if you go into it as a retro video game trying to be a Saturday morning cartoon instead of the opposite expectation set by games like TMNT Shredder's Revenge or Marvel Cosmic Invasion. When you actually BATTLE in BATTLEtoads it's great! I love the tag system, while it may be too forgiving on the player, it was a great way to emphasize how...
played few arcade styled games, this one makes me want to exit game after a single stage, I feel like I am doing way too much and have hard time with visuals. I get some like a challenge but this is not what I look towards in an arcade, I want something easy co-op that keeps group going as opposed to each of us wanting to switch games.
