Played it because I loved Crypt Custodian and it didn't dissapoint. The overall feeling of the game and comedic writting is very similar. Despite being a platformer, that part isn't actually that bad. Quite easy actually. I didn't mind, but if you seek something a little more challenging, it's not the right choice. Imo bosses were way harder. I think one of them took me about 15-20 deaths. Altough I also picked Hard...

Not just incredibly well made for a first game, but a great game in its own right. Nearly every element that Kyle Thompson has refined over his next two games - Islets and Crypt Custodian - were already well realized here. At about 2 hours actual gameplay in, I'd describe it as just okay. It's one of the few metroidvanias where you can't actually attack, so unconventional might also be apt, and as a result, every encounter is about avoiding damage, where boss fights are all pattern recognition. I've done 4 of what I assume is 6 or 7 bosses, and every one of those bosses has had a creative and unique design, but lacks much challenge...
