Update: It looks like that when the planned Arc of Tomorrow update arrives this game would become finally a great game. I would recommend the game then! The Test of Time update removed the major flaw of the game (strict age mechanics) and with the second big update we might get modern units as well. The initial review: It is unfinished! Civilization VII was a grand disappointment at launch. For a quick TLDR, I have nearly 7,000 hours on civilization V and VI. These are my two favorite games, so when I heard about Civilization VII I was immensely excited, and ready to dive into the game head first. I preordered VII like a dumby, because I thought any issues with the game at launch would be remedied through updates and DLC. This has not been the...
I read a lot of negative comments about Civ VII but I think it is unjustified, at least not the gaming aspect of it. You may have issues with the monetary sucking from DLCs but that's a separate matter. As far the game aspect, it is better than civ V or VI. The landscape is more complicated and rich.
