The value story

It has never been cheaper than $5.59. That was December 2024. It has been discounted 22 times in the 6 years tracked here, typically at 30 percent off, with about 12 weeks between sales. Today it is at full price, and its last discount ended about 13 weeks ago.

Value puts it in the top 43 percent of the games it competes with. It is pricier than 83 percent of its genre. Among the games that feel like it, The Centennial Case : A Shijima Story ($14.99, scores 52) beats it on value, while it beats The Casting of Frank Stone™ ($29.99, scores 6).

What players say

At first promising, but then quite weak and short story with barely any branches for alternative storylines. It's mainly a very linear bad or good choice until the end, then you have to go through the whole game again to see the "bad endings" which you missed. A bit sad when you know that Kodaka had made way better stories / games (e.g. Danganronpa). Hope he / they will try again though, as the production quality is...

Death Come True is a subpar, decently told story, but there's simply no reason for it to exist as a video game. At its core, this is just a movie with extra steps. A good FMV game at least offers branching paths, which, even if they converge to the same end point, offer up the illusion of choice. This doesn't even try. There's a single linear storyline, and most "choices" amount to a 50/50 gamble between progressing...

Really fun game! I played it with some friends over a Discord call and it was like a movie night where we made choices together on how to progress the story. A good, digestible runtime (around 2 hours), great performances and camerawork, and the story was gripping from beginning to end. I recommend the game wholeheartedly, worth its price.
