The value story
It has never been cheaper than $3.74. That was June 2026. Its cuts run 50 percent off as a rule. There have been 19 in the 3 years tracked, about 9 weeks apart.
It is pricier than 76 percent of its genre, and less well reviewed than 75 percent. Among the games that feel like it, Dead by Daylight ($19.99, scores 48) beats it on value, while it beats Last Year (free, scores 9).
Players rate it 66 percent positive over its lifetime, and the last 30 days run 76 percent. It is aging into a better game than its average suggests. This site sampled 800 of its Steam-purchase reviews; 32 were written by buyers who refunded it, sampled from reviews written October 2025 to August 2026. That is more refunded reviewers than 9 in 10 paid games this site has sampled to the same depth, and among the 651 games in its genre sampled this deeply, 102 have a larger share. The typical game sits near 5 in 1,000, so the score docks it. 3 of the 32 refunded reviewers were past Valve's two-hour window when they wrote the review. Inside the two-hour refund window, 54 percent of the 1,880 reviews written there were positive, against 66 percent overall, and those are 10 percent of everything written about it.
HowLongToBeat players log 2 hours as a typical playtime, and completionists log 75, 37 times as much.

What players say
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is a really fun asymmetrical horror game, especially if you're a fan of the original movie. The atmosphere is great, the maps look fantastic, and playing as either the Family or the Victims gives you two very different experiences. The gameplay can be pretty intense, especially when you're being chased and trying to escape without getting caught. It can be frustrating sometimes, but...
ATTENTION ALL NEW PLAYERS!!! This game is a lot of fun but will be VERY DIFFICULT for you to come in now. The main player base that remains is DEDICATED and GOOD at the game, at least in terms of knowing where everything is and how to play with their preferred characters. Connie seems to be such a good character she is almost always picked but is the 'obsession" (dbd ref) of the characters able to open doors fast...
They abandoned this game. Don't get it unless you REALLY want it... GUN took our criticism to heart and started being really stupid. They started chucking pay to win characters in and stopped actually caring about the playerbase. Each character costs £7.50, which is INSANE by the way. That's repulsive. The rest of the characters are great, no need to pay for the dlc's. This game is incredibly fun... when there's no...
