I dearly hope that someone eventually makes a good, modern geopolitical sim, someday. This is not that game, nor are any of the (insert year here) versions of it. The interface is genuinely one of the worst possible, the combat is dull, the array of mechanics seems broad, but is really shallow, badly implemented and really, really awkward to use. Then there's the business practice of re-releasing what is essentially...
It's a solid geo-political sim overall, super fun to jump into wars, but tbh, that's not the main vibe. For me, the real deal is managing the economy and teaming up with other countries!
