I never liked the first one (too much RNG; the stat system being too weird and cryptic; the trial by error stuff in the dungeons), etc... aside from the asthetics and the narrator; that's the only thing I liked; so, with the sequel coming out I thought "Maybe I didn't give the first one enough of a chance; let's see how this one is"... My main gripe with this games is that it doesn't respect you, the player, or your time. DD1 was hard, even unfair, had moments of "haha, x3 crit + bleed + gonorrhea" but it respected you. Let me put an example, you enter a boss for the first time? - It's the apprentice version, you can learn it's mechanics/gimmick. - Even if your party is nonoptimal against said boss, you'll win as long as you play decently and are...
Some of the best replay value a game can offer. So much content between both Confessions and Kingdoms game modes. Kingdoms allows you to just hop into the gameplay without any need for progression, while Confessions gives you the more story driven parts of the game with lots of progression to keep you invested in leveling your characters, unlocking new equipment and upgrading nearly everything related to gameplay...
