The value story
June 2026 is where it bottomed out, at $9.89. Its cuts run 50 percent off as a rule. There have been 35 in the 4 years tracked, about 6 weeks apart. Today it is at full price, and its last discount ended about 2 weeks ago.
On value it sits in the top 33 percent of its genre. It is pricier than 96 percent of its genre, and better reviewed than 75 percent. Among the games that feel like it, CONSCRIPT: Director’s Cut ($19.99, scores 67) beats it on value, while it beats 江湖客栈-The Jianghu (free, scores 1).
This site sampled 558 of its Steam-purchase reviews; 21 were written by buyers who refunded it, sampled from reviews written November 2022 to September 2026. That is more refunded reviewers than 8 in 10 paid games this site has sampled to the same depth, and among the 2,725 games in its genre sampled this deeply, 362 have a larger share. Inside the two-hour refund window, 40 percent of the 181 reviews written there were positive, against 79 percent overall, and those are 15 percent of everything written about it.

What players say
Fun game and a good value, especially if you wait for it to be on sale. Solid replay options and side quests; different characters with various attributes, different routes you can take- keeps it interesting. *One word of caution for our red hat friends; there are native Americans represented in the game and women, some who are strong, independent, and have strong survival skills, so please use caution, as we know...
Do you really have to ask? Just download it and get the DLC. It's the only playable version of the game on modern hardware without emulation, and it's worth it for the amount of content alone.
It's cool and all, but it's really dumbed-down. Kinda stupid you can't start out with a hunting knife, edit your party at the beginning, a lot of felt way too easy from what I remember. I opted to download the old one instead and threw it on a windows 98 VM lol, I'd recommend doing that versus buying this. I felt zero nostalgia playing this lmao felt like an easier rip-off more than the trail we grew up with.
