It was wonderful to visit Melee Island again. A total blast from the past. The surreal look comes across much better in motion than in screenshots, and after getting used to it, it wasn't a problem anymore. Only Guybrush looks bad. What's also bad is the achievement system. Farming the quiz cards was very grindy, and the speed run with an UI that's sometimes buggy wasn't much fun either. But if you don't even bother...
As a long-time fan of the series who considers the original Monkey Island one of the best games of all time, this latest instalment is unfortunately not it. Nothing but a cheap nostalgia trip instead of a genuinely compelling new chapter, without the Monkey Island name this game would have come and gone unnoticed. The puzzles were fine and I enjoyed the voice acting, but everything else was mediocre at best. The...
