Definitely helps if you have nostalgia for, or an innate appreciation of, 8-bit games. Gameplay chiefly involves 2D platforming and open-world exploration, but certain NPCs can optionally give you guidance on where to go next, an inclusion I definitely appreciated. There's also some kind of poetic sub-plot that went way over my head, but some players may enjoy trying to decode it. Overall, don't expect something...
