The value story
April 2017 is where it bottomed out, at $3.19. 27 discounts in the 11 years on record. They run about 60 percent off, roughly 22 weeks apart.
Against its own genre it lands in the top 6 percent on value. It is pricier than 60 percent of its genre, and better reviewed than 85 percent. Among the games that feel like it, Gato Roboto ($7.99, scores 82) beats it on value, while it beats Axiom Verge ($19.99, scores 51).
Steam's global achievement data puts about 5 percent of players at this game's ending achievement. On an 8.2-hour game, the hours short of it still count in its price per hour. This site sampled 503 of its Steam-purchase reviews; none were written by buyers who refunded it, sampled from reviews written March 2020 to August 2026. Inside the two-hour refund window, 50 percent of the 121 reviews written there were positive, against 82 percent overall, and those are 8 percent of everything written about it.
Finishing takes 8.2 hours; clearing it takes 26, which is 3.2 times the campaign.
At 8.2 hours it is a handheld-sized game, and Valve rates it Deck Verified.

What players say
FYI: THE SPEED OF THE GAME IS TIED TO FRAME RATE. This applies to everything (player movement speed, etc.). I've been playing at 40FPS on the steam deck because that's what I always do. You can't really tell the difference and it's way better for battery life. But I just found out I've been playing this game at 2/3 speed the entire time. Was already in the postgame before I realized. Honestly, pretty hilarious but...
your 2 difficulty choices are mindnumbingly easy or ridiculously difficult. everything from the serpent 5 boss onwards sucks ass. if you play this, at least choose the easy difficulty to have a decent time.
