The value story
September 2018 is where it bottomed out, at $4.39. Its cuts run 75 percent off as a rule. There have been 84 in the 10 years tracked, about 5 weeks apart.
It is pricier than 74 percent of its genre, and less well reviewed than 99 percent. Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army 2 ($14.99, scores 45) outscores it, and so does Zombie Army Trilogy ($44.99, scores 49). Both sit among its closest neighbours.
22 of the 579 Steam-purchase reviews sampled here come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written March 2020 to August 2026. That is more refunded reviewers than 9 in 10 paid games this site has sampled to the same depth, and among the 1,071 games in its genre sampled this deeply, 21 have a larger share. The typical game sits near 5 in 1,000, so the score docks it. 1 of the 22 refunded reviewers was past Valve's two-hour window when they wrote the review. Inside the two-hour refund window, 27 percent of the 681 reviews written there were positive, against 32 percent overall, and those are 51 percent of everything written about it.
It carries Valve's Deck Verified rating and runs 4.3 hours, about as long as a handheld game wants to be.

What players say
Easily the best Resident Evil game in the franchise. The combat, variety of play, and enemy types put it above both the original Resident Evil 4 and its Remake. The tension in the game blows Resident evil 2 Remake out of the water. I have no idea why CAPCOM stop funding this game. It's literally the only good Resident Evil game.
CAPCOM, ADD THE OPTION TO PLAY MULTIPLAYER MATCHES WITH AI AND MY LIFE IS YOURS. This game is unironically so good. Just because it isn't the usual Resident Evil formula doesn't mean it isn't something to enjoy. If you're a fan of RE's traditional Mercenaries mode and are fine with something that has a faster TTK then I'd recommend you try playing "The Experiment" mode. Unfortunately, with an average player count in...
Getting all the achievements gave me some good memories, and I'll give Capcom credit for swinging for something different with the Resident Evil brand. But "tried something different" is about the kindest thing I can say. Nothing lands particularly well, the gameplay feels rough around the edges, and the whole thing reads like an experiment that needed a lot more time in the lab. That said, I picked it up for next...
