One of my absolute comfort games. I played this to death when I was young even thoug my parent's PC could barely manage it. It's clunky of course being an 20 year old game and you notice the limitations of the time quite glaringly. So maybe without nostalgia it is not worth getting into. But with the bonus of fond memories it holds up quite well.
They don't make 'em like this anymore... A unique blend of RPG and RTS from the 2000s, when companies competed by creativity rather than by shareholder value. For todays dopamine over-saturated brains it may take some patience to get into the game's pace, but once you do it's a wonderful journey with such a classic sound design. There is nothing else out there like Spellforce 1.
