What drives the score
How to read this
Grades run S to D, read from the buyer's side. ▲ marks a lift, ▼ a drag or a dock, ? an input we do not have, • a fact this genre's score does not use. How the grades work
About the game
Hyperspace Invaders II: Pixel Edition is a hardcore, uncompromising vertical scrolling bullet hell/invader hell shooter (shmup) that doubles as a techno-based lightsynth, triggering bursts of funky invaders at the pulse of a relentless beat.
Minimum specs
Minimum on the Steam store: 1004 MB of memory, 1GB, 82 MB of storage. Windows only.
The value story
81 discounts in the 11 years on record, a median of 90 percent off across all of them, roughly 6 weeks apart. Today's $0.79 at 84 percent off still sits 61 percent above the floor, so a deeper cut exists in its history.
Value puts it in the top 31 percent of the games it competes with. It is cheaper than 78 percent of its genre. ZeroRanger ($11.99, scores 75) outscores it, and so does Jamestown ($9.99, scores 78). Both sit among its closest neighbours.

Hyperspace Invaders II: Pixel Edition is a truly outstanding arcade shmup that finds the perfect balance between precision shooting, strategy, and trippy chaos. Well worth the small asking price. Dim the lights, crank up the volume and get comfortable with a controller, and enjoy the awesome experience. Essentially, in this schmup, you only need the left stick and a button. Shooting is on auto, so all you gotta do...
Ye gawds, my poor mortal eyes. Okay, so you move all around the screen and crank up your score multiplier without touching enemy fire or ramming a baddie. You gain some powerups and there are several different "ships" to pick from with varying shot types. So, I am terribly fond of "shooters"(I'm antediluvian, so I call the other games "FPS's"), even though I suck at them. I like to think I'm somewhat forgiving of...
