The value story
November 2017 is where it bottomed out, at $4.99. 22 discounts in the 10 years on record. They run about 67 percent off, roughly 11 weeks apart.
It is pricier than 93 percent of its genre, and less well reviewed than 85 percent. Dear Esther: Landmark Edition ($9.99, scores 28) outscores it, and so does Firewatch ($19.99, scores 56). Both sit among its closest neighbours.
76 on Metacritic, 68 percent from players. A gap this way round is usually launch damage or a slow decline.
Steam's global achievement data puts 28 percent of players at this game's ending achievement. The median game this site can measure sits at 15. This site sampled 611 of its Steam-purchase reviews; 2 were written by buyers who refunded it, sampled from reviews written March 2020 to August 2026. Inside the two-hour refund window, 30 percent of the 316 reviews written there were positive, against 68 percent overall, and those are 17 percent of everything written about it.
Finishing takes 4.5 hours; clearing it takes 9, which is 2.1 times the campaign.

The player arrives after the...
A beautiful, touching, immersive story, with forcing the player to move slowly, which I don't think is the best solution, but I appreciate the intention.
I was willing to put up with the walking / running speed, not to mention slightly lagging frames in some areas, on top of time consuming collectibles & tasks to unlock achievements until I got softlocked in one of main story areas and cannot progress anymore. It made a checkpoint afterwards so reloading the game and waiting didn't work at all. It's a shame because I genuinely enjoy the story a lot but I cannot be...
