The story and writing are good, the house looks great, and a few of the chapters are really creative. But I finished the game feeling unsatisfied. The conclusion just didn't give me that sense of closure I was hoping for, and I walked away wanting more from it. My character got stuck on in game environment, right at the end of the game. It left me with no choice but to exit the game. Upon re-loading the game it started me at the very beginning of the game again, with no option to load a save. It's like watching a film, and not being able to see the last ten minutes of the film, unless you watch the entire film again, just to see how it ends. I will not be playing through...
I think about What Remains of Edith Finch more often than most games I've played. It's older now, but the way it made me feel when I first played it was unlike anything else at the time. Even now, I'll sometimes revisit it just to replay a specific scene and feel it again.
