What players say
I'm going to level with you. I hated Tunic while I was playing it. It has this one-note style combat that gets repetitive and never particularly deep on top of its confusing and inscrutable level designs and secrets means you're constantly backtracking or lost and you can't even get any enjoyment from the narrative or characters because there aren't any. You can talk to some, but they speak in gibberish that perhaps...

Tunic is, without exaggeration, one of the finest games I have ever played, and it contains some of the best puzzles I have ever had the pleasure of being defeated by. At first glance it presents itself as a small, bright isometric adventure: a little fox, a sword, a sprawling coastline of ruins. What it actually is takes rather longer to dawn on you. Scattered through the world are the pages of an instruction...
Let's call it a Soulslike Zelda. It starts cute, then gets brutally serious. The instruction manual is brilliant, and the secrets and puzzles go deeper than any rabbit hole. It even has its own language. Half the time you have no idea what's going on - and somehow, that's the best part.
