I had this game on my wishlist forever - not even sure why I had put it there in the first place, probably liked the theme and the tags that described it, so I finally picked it up in the last summer sale. Solar Settlers reminds me a lot of a board game, which is not bad and maybe the creators should think about releasing a board game version of it, too. I would definitely buy that, too. It's cheap-looking and ugly, clearly the product of someone with an art budget of "3 sodas for their 19-year-old cousin to please knock this out for me" But it's also a fascinating card-based 4x simulator that has hard cutoffs for winning and losing so games are 30 minutes or less, with a lot of interesting decisions and combos.
