My entry point was Ib, Mad Father and the Witch's House, much like several people but playing The Crooked Man still brings out raw emotion 13 years after it was released. Went on a nostalgia trip and binged a bunch of RPGmaker horror games that I watched youtubers play back in the Cretaceous period years ago. Ignoring the old engine limitations (mostly referring to the clunky combat), this game, along with Ib, are the best of them. Honorable mention goes to Mad Father. Love the story and writing. I forgot most of the plot, so the twist still hit when I got to it. Old gem
I purchased all of these games due to the reviews, but I cannot even get myself to finish the first game. The only scary thing is the few jump scares. The game also does not tell you the controls, so if I didn't have to restart the game in the first five seconds due to being lost already, I wouldn't know about the item inventory which you do end up needing. Giving the benefit of doubt maybe I just didn't pay close...
