The value story
It has never been cheaper than $0.99. That was February 2021. It has been discounted 87 times in the 8 years tracked here, typically at 80 percent off, with about 5 weeks between sales.
Against its own genre it lands in the top 23 percent on value. It is better reviewed than 67 percent of its genre. On the same math Hero of the Kingdom: The Lost Tales 1 ($6.99, scores 78) and Hero of the Kingdom ($7.99, scores 84) are the better buys, and they are the games it most resembles.

What players say
Holy crap... this is by far the worst of the three. Especially given that I gave the first two games a positive review... I cannot in good conscience do that with the third. Money becomes a major issue in this game, and while there is a way to repeatedly cycle items through vendors to get more, this is extremely boring and repetitive. Buy grain, turn grain to flour, sell flour... Repeat, a LOT. I repeated this over...
Hero of the Kingdom III started off pretty good; they added some new things, like your skills leveling up to a 100 and a crafting screen for food, potions, and weapons. But about half way through, the game just grinds to a halt. Every enemy takes requires 5 or more potions to fight, so you're constantly harvesting ingredients and making potions. Your weapons break all the time and you have to craft more, it becomes...
Silly story and corny dialogue and significantly more grindy than the previous games in the series (you will spend a lot of time cooking and crafting potions since many encounters, especially late game, require a lot of strength and pots), but a typical HotK installment in all the good ways.
