What drives the score

How to read this

Every input gets a grade, S to D, read from the buyer's side. The score is multiplicative, so an input only counts as raising when it sits near the top of its own scale. Anything with real room left is holding the score back, because that room is the gap to 100. ▲ marks a lift, ▼ a drag or a dock, ? an input we do not have, • a fact this genre's score does not use. The exact weights stay secret.

The value story

The lowest price on record is $0.99, set in June 2016. It has been discounted 68 times in the 14 years tracked here, typically at 50 percent off, with about 6 weeks between sales. Today it is at full price. The last sale was about 13 weeks ago, and on this game's rhythm the next one tends to arrive within 6 weeks.

On value it sits in the top 4 percent of its genre. It is pricier than 74 percent of its genre, and better reviewed than 93 percent. Among the games that feel like it, Rock of Ages ($9.99, scores 72) beats it on value, while it beats Toy Soldiers: Complete ($14.99, scores 35).

Critics scored it 71. Players sit 18 points higher at 89 percent, which usually means a game that plays better than it reviews.

This site sampled 316 of its Steam-purchase reviews; 1 was written by a buyer who refunded it, sampled from reviews written March 2020 to August 2026. Inside the two-hour refund window, 74 percent of the 280 reviews written there were positive, against 89 percent overall, and those are 21 percent of everything written about it.

6.1 hours to finish it, 20 to exhaust it. The completionist tail is 3.3 times the campaign.

What players say

Does not function properly on Windows 10 or 11. Game is entirely broken. A shame considering it used to be a fun one.

Sadly this game is simply broken. Honestly its amazing they're even selling it! The enemy infantry ai is completely broken! They just run in random directions shooting at nothing and flopping on the ground. They will eventually run off the map through the walls and terrain and become glitched out forcing you to wait until the game removes them which could take awhile.

I had 0 issues booting this game up like I thought I would after what some have said. I got an error at 1st boot-up but didn't allow the old/outdated .NET Framework to install and it worked great when I tried to boot it up again which is good because: This game was a large part of my early adult life and it's awesome to get to play it again. I didn't even know they made a 2nd one until today and I'm for sure picking...

The BANG Score is one number for value, 0 to 100: price against how it reviews and how long it was built to be. It answers the money question and stops there; whether the game is for you is still your call.

Reviews set the ceiling and price moves you inside it, so a cheap game that reviews badly cannot climb. Ratings from few reviewers are shrunk toward the middle, so 100 percent from nine people does not outrank 96 percent from ninety thousand. Length comes from HowLongToBeat where it can be matched, measured against a per-genre floor so a five-hour narrative game is judged against other narrative games rather than against a sixty-hour RPG. Where no verified length exists the score says so and carries a dock, because the biggest input is then a guess. The full method, including where it is weak → Steam reviews as of Sep 6, price as of Sep 24.
