It is definitely to play through all Mass Effect games at least once for the story, even if it took quite a nose-dive in ME3 where the story doesn't really make sense at times. From the technical point of view, even in the Legendary Edition, ME1 is very janky and the struggle to unglue your main character from a taken cover or to make companions take any cover instead of face-tanking any harm coming their way is...
I grew up playing these amazing games so I only have good things to say for anyone wanting to play.
