The value story
July 2024 is where it bottomed out, at $9.99. It has been discounted 32 times in the 6 years tracked here, typically at 40 percent off, with about 8 weeks between sales. $8.38 is what it would take to make this a BANGER, and nothing in its history goes that low.
Against its own genre it lands in the top 5 percent on value. It is pricier than 89 percent of its genre, and better reviewed than 98 percent. Among the games that feel like it, Celeste ($19.99, scores 76) beats it on value, while it beats Foregone ($19.99, scores 53).
Steam's global achievement data puts 39 percent of players at this game's ending achievement. The median game this site can measure sits at 15. This site sampled 386 of its Steam-purchase reviews; 2 were written by buyers who refunded it, sampled from reviews written December 2020 to August 2026.
Valve rates it Steam Deck Verified, and at 6.5 hours it is short enough to finish on one.

What players say
Honestly, as I approached the end, a growing part of me wanted to believe it was going to end with Hal awakening to the power of Za Warudo . Still a beautiful ending. Still a beautiful game. Still wish the puzzle at the museum didn't involve so much waiting. Still wish I discovered Skul has a sidequest before I lost fast travel for the rest of the game .
THOSE THAT LOVE PSYCHOLOGICAL INDIE MUST BUY Yes the main plot is common amongst other games or animes (hint: envy ) But the flow of the story and its representation are great & appealing The bgm and atmosphere also are surreal P/S need me some baddie Ms. Sakura <:
Finished this game last week and it's persistently been on the front of my mind since, quickly becoming one of my all-time favorites. Game consists of engaging, albeit easy puzzles, gorgeous pixel art, a phenomenal soundtrack and a truly moving story. If it interests you at all I encourage you, please play this game. Unreal Life is beautiful, melancholic and cruel and I'm thankful for having been able to experience...
