The value story
December 2025 is where it bottomed out, at $4.99. 25 discounts in the 2 years on record. They run about 50 percent off, roughly 5 weeks apart.
It is pricier than 86 percent of its genre, and less well reviewed than 83 percent. Among the games that feel like it, Bellwright ($29.99, scores 47) beats it on value, while it beats Han Xiongnu Wars ($6.99, scores 5).
18 of the 578 Steam-purchase reviews sampled here come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written April 2024 to August 2026. That is more refunded reviewers than 9 in 10 paid games this site has sampled to the same depth, and among the 3,162 games in its genre sampled this deeply, 206 have a larger share. The typical game sits near 5 in 1,000, so the score docks it. 3 of the 18 refunded reviewers were past Valve's two-hour window when they wrote the review. Inside the two-hour refund window, 47 percent of the 145 reviews written there were positive, against 67 percent overall, and those are 17 percent of everything written about it.

What players say
I only say yes because it seems like they are still making active updates and hotfixes. The game itself has a lot of potential. It integrates base building and rouge-like scaling which is a new concept for me. But the enemy NPCs bug out really easily which sometimes trivializes fights. The game also crashes fairly frequently. I played through the main campaign and despite the bugs and crashing, I was still compelled...
Do want to play Kingdom, but wanted more mechanics and control over individual units plus get into the fight yourself? Well have I got a game for you. There are a lot of upgrade paths to go down in the campaign (there are 3 modes) and a lot of different runes to suit different playstyles. Personally, the charge arrow was kind of where things got a lot easier. Boost your health, damage, and all of your secondary...
Honestly, game is decent until you face the bishop boss. That one is such an uninteresting slog...
