Ok so I might a bit biased. I am a R Type fan since I was a child. This installment fix my R-type itch pretty much 100%. It has everything you need for a good R Type entry: interesting stage, funky boss, tons of ship and weapon variety, customization and progression! Also, you no longer die from scratching the terrain, which is the one thing that I hate about r-type honestly I'm just glad they removed it. I highly...

If you liked R-Type Final on the PS2 then you'll like its successor. It's not terribly balanced because there are so many ships, which can add a ton more challenge to the stages. The main campaign is all right, with multiple paths to three different end stages. Also, some of the stages are rather barren graphically, but others are beautiful.
