The value story
Across all 28 discounts in the 3 years tracked, the median cut is 75 percent, about 6 weeks apart. Today's $3.99 at 80 percent off matches the lowest price in the record.
It is pricier than 91 percent of its genre, and better reviewed than 75 percent. On the same math Fraymakers ($19.99, scores 44) and Nidhogg ($3.49, scores 76) are the better buys, and they are the games it most resembles.

What players say
Pretty fun casual fighting game, I only recommend if you have someone else to play with though.

Great and fun.... just if you want to play offline there is not much to do. Not even diffcculty switch... Wish it had a. arcade mode or something...
The fighting has easy inputs, and at the same time enough mechanical depth that you'll want to actually think about what you're doing: The chess part makes for some very interesting fight set-ups, since you can have another piece join as a fighter assist. Attacking pieces and king pieces seem to always be granted a super/ultimate for fighting. Pawns can be shockingly strong too since they skip fighting altogether...
