I've been playing Solium Infernum with my board game group since release, and I cherish every miserable, bastardly turn of it. We've mostly kept up a rate of a game per month, and I even got an online board game group into it. I love it. It hates me, certainly, but I love it. A lot of people who like turn-based strategy and 4x games didn't buy this because they don't want to (or can't) get a group together to play...
This is civilization but designed for multi-player and with more flavor. If you want to feel like a tactical mastermind, this is your game. It's a true 4X where victory comes in more ways than just combat. Diplomacy and information warfare are critical parts of the game. This continues to be the single best asynchronous strategy game ever. Get some friends together, and prepare to stab each other in the back in and endless cycle of betrayal that makes Game of Thrones look like a baby series for small babies without the heart to do the EVIL THAT MUST BE DONE.
