The value story

It has never been cheaper than $1.49. That was January 2026. Its cuts run 67 percent off as a rule. There have been 18 in the 2 years tracked, about 6 weeks apart. Today it is at full price, and its last discount ended about 4 weeks ago.

On value it sits in the top 37 percent of its genre. It is pricier than 73 percent of its genre. Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition ($44.99, scores 92) outscores it, and so does Bloomtown: A Different Story ($9.99, scores 70). Both sit among its closest neighbours.

Steam's global achievement data puts about 2 percent of players at this game's ending achievement. On a 9.6-hour game, the hours short of it still count in its price per hour. Of the 384 Steam-purchase reviews this site sampled, 7 come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written November 2024 to August 2026. That is more refunded reviewers than 8 in 10 paid games this site has sampled to the same depth, and among the 3,162 games in its genre sampled this deeply, 345 have a larger share.

The drop-off

Steam counts fewer than one in ten of its players at the ending achievement. On a 9.6-hour game, that's a lot you pay for and may never use. Steam global achievements

What players say

Its like playing *redacted for copyright* for the first time, again. I can't stress enough how cool this is. It feels like a gameboy game, in all the good ways and only a few of the bad ways. It takes your time seriously and has enough QOL for me to keep playing just to see. Also having permadeath as an option to opt into is super frickin cool. I have already lost my starter, rip squiddy. and i deserved to lose it!

I remember seeing early screenshots of the game when the developer first started posting about it. Took me a long time to get around to actually buying and playing the finished game, but I'm very glad I did! It's a very good monster catching game and a wonderful break from the mainstream one im used to, the music is lovely, the Dokimon are interesting, the art is nice, all around a very good time, highly recommend.

This game leaves me feeling conflicted. On one hand, it is clearly a passion project made with a lot of love and care. On the other hand, the game itself is EXTREMELY rough. The tone kept swapping from not taking itself seriously to taking itself way too seriously. And the plot really felt rushed especially near the end of the game. The gameplay itself is fine, almost one to one with the classic Pokémon games. Some...
