The value story

The lowest price on record is $9.47, set in December 2023. 29 discounts in the 3 years on record. They run about 25 percent off, roughly 6 weeks apart. Today it is at full price, and its last discount ended 3 days ago.

Value puts it in the top 46 percent of the games it competes with. Among the games that feel like it, The Last Flame ($19.99, scores 62) beats it on value, while it beats Asgard's Fall — Viking Survivors ($9.99, scores 49).

This site sampled 758 of its Steam-purchase reviews; 24 were written by buyers who refunded it, sampled from reviews written August 2023 to August 2026. That is more refunded reviewers than 7 in 10 paid games this site has sampled to the same depth, and among the 698 games in its genre sampled this deeply, 78 have a larger share. Inside the two-hour refund window, 61 percent of the 286 reviews written there were positive, against 82 percent overall, and those are 11 percent of everything written about it.

It carries Valve's Deck Verified rating and runs 4.4 hours, about as long as a handheld game wants to be.

What players say

Want a roguelike that takes 5 hours for a run? Me neither! Seriously, though. It is fun, and unique (sometime's to it's detriment). My experience tends to be have a good deal of fun (for hours) until some random group of lighting orc annihilates you on 4x speed, ending long runs with a pretty lame way. The time is just too long per run, and too easy to lose against chaff enemies while not paying attention. It's...

Fun, but honestly what keeps me from coming back is challenge without just upping the difficulty. I don't like how much I can progress from spamming easier battles and buying gear. Would prefer my choices to be more consequential and have more lock-in so I have to work around my previous decisions during a run. Overall, fun game, just wish it had a different pace to it.

I see it exactly like the other reviews here. Very grindy, replayability is not given because the micro-managing aspect is just too tedious. If you are looking for a second job that doesn't pay you, this game might be for you. It's not for the rest of us, though.
