What drives the score

How to read this

Every input gets a grade, S to D, read from the buyer's side. The score is multiplicative, so an input only counts as raising when it sits near the top of its own scale. Anything with real room left is holding the score back, because that room is the gap to 100. ▲ marks a lift, ▼ a drag or a dock, ? an input we do not have, • a fact this genre's score does not use. The exact weights stay secret.

The value story

The lowest price on record is $0.79, set in December 2024. It has been discounted 116 times in the 14 years tracked here, typically at 80 percent off, with about 5 weeks between sales. Today it is at full price. The last sale was about 4 weeks ago, and on this game's rhythm the next one tends to arrive within 5 weeks.

On value it sits in the top 29 percent of its genre. It is better reviewed than 67 percent of its genre. Among the games that feel like it, SAS: Zombie Assault 4 (free, scores 61) beats it on value, while it beats Prototype™ ($19.99, scores 49).

Steam's global achievement data says about 9 percent of players ever finish it. On a 5.2-hour game, that is a lot of paid-for hours most people never see. This site sampled 385 of its Steam-purchase reviews; 2 were written by buyers who refunded it, sampled from reviews written June 2020 to September 2026. Inside the two-hour refund window, 70 percent of the 955 reviews written there were positive, against 84 percent overall, and those are 35 percent of everything written about it.

5.2 hours to finish it, 19 to exhaust it. The completionist tail is 3.6 times the campaign.

What players say

A fantastic GTA clone with zombies, great gameplay, cool graphics and fun soundtrack. The story mode is good, but what makes the game better is the tournament / racing mode. I wish there were more games like this out there.

A somewhat measured "thumbs up" for this top-down, mission-based zombie driving game. The good: The premise is rock simple, but in a good way. Go out into a zombie-infested city, save people and blow up targets and return to base. Quite a few vehicles to collect and augment. Weapon augments are applicable across vehicles. The story snippets are compelling enough, hinting at government conspiracies. Depending on the...

At first, Zombie Driver HD seems like a lot of fun. The story mode has potential, and although it repeatedly relies on the same basic mechanics, it remains enjoyable for a while. Unfortunately, the story feels unfinished, leaving several questions unanswered. Slaughter Mode is a fun addition, but it becomes repetitive rather quickly. The final mode, the tournaments, feels like a rushed addition based on the idea...

The BANG Score is one number for value, 0 to 100: price against how it reviews and how long it was built to be. It answers the money question and stops there; whether the game is for you is still your call.

Reviews set the ceiling and price moves you inside it, so a cheap game that reviews badly cannot climb. Ratings from few reviewers are shrunk toward the middle, so 100 percent from nine people does not outrank 96 percent from ninety thousand. Length comes from HowLongToBeat where it can be matched, measured against a per-genre floor so a five-hour narrative game is judged against other narrative games rather than against a sixty-hour RPG. Where no verified length exists the score says so and carries a dock, because the biggest input is then a guess. The full method, including where it is weak → Steam reviews as of Sep 6, price as of Sep 24.
