A roguelite was not the direction I would have pegged for this franchise, but it is a welcome change nonetheless. I'm just glad to see this franchise carried on nearly two decades since its inception. The game makes it immediately obvious the genre of game you're in. You will literally die in your first two minutes playing this game (which actually came as a bit of a shock to me). Dying is not the end however, as...
Great little game. I could see it getting a little old playing it too long, but it's still fun. Remember to ramp up your knowledge prior to any other skill. It'll get you more XP in the long run.
Its fun the way it is, I still recommend it but its an undercooked potato. Some mechanics implemented in the game don't matter at all and it is better to assume they don't exist. I just have an intense desire to mod this game to a more balanced, meaningful and enjoyable state.
