The value story

The lowest price on record is $4.99, set in February 2024. In 3 years of price history it has never once been discounted.

Value puts it in the top 1 percent of the games it competes with. It is cheaper than 85 percent of its genre, and better reviewed than 99 percent. The nearest things to it, Selaco ($24.99, scores 66) and Prodeus ($24.99, scores 58), are both worse buys on this math.

The math says it holds its tier up to $9.50, and you are being asked for $4.99.

Steam's global achievement data puts about 15 percent of players at this game's ending achievement. On a 3.5-hour game, the hours short of it still count in its price per hour. Of the 324 Steam-purchase reviews this site sampled, 1 comes from a buyer who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written July 2023 to August 2026. Inside the two-hour refund window, 94 percent of the 236 reviews written there were positive, against 98 percent overall, and those are 19 percent of everything written about it.

3.5 hours to finish it, 8 to exhaust it. The completionist tail is 2.3 times the campaign.

What players say

imagine turok and serious sam had a baby, that would be Zortch. this is a game that has a very unique identity, with a subdued sound design that makes weapons sound muted (and a sparse post-industrial soundtrack to go along with it). this game is very atmospheric and has a vibe i haven't seen elsewhere. i wouldn't be surprised if this game was made in the early naughts due to how well they simulated the era just get...

Zortch is relatively simple, but has a decent gameplay loop. The weapons, while some of them might sound a bit dull (Which i don't hold against the game, it does add to the experience), feel pretty impactful when used against enemies. The enemies are well designed to fit within the environment, and gameplay wise they try to either introduce something new, or improve upon a mechanic a previous enemy introduced. The...

Not really sure why it's reviewed so positively, I found it very underwhelming. Frustrating janky weapon switching that locks you into animations, long mazey levels that are confusing to navigate, annoying and spongy enemies with homing attacks. Its biggest sin is that it just isn't very interesting. Nothing surprising, no fun bosses, no unique level ideas, boring repetitive music. It's just a fundamentally...
