Hedon Bloodrite is a good FPS made for perverts. Then it turns into Hexen made for perverts. Which is still good, but combing through large interconnected maps in order to find one small bauble that is necessary to proceed is not the ideal way to have fun. Oh well, at least the map design is generally quite good. And the weapons feel great. And there is lot of interesting worldbuilding and a variety of characters...
Growing up with a cheapo laptop, I latched pretty quick onto DOOM mods. I remember spending hours browsing Doomworld or the ZDoom forums, marvelling at the stuff people were putting out. This game is so good I can't even believe it is a doom total conversion. Phenomenal level design. Good action sequences. Difficulty definitely picks up later on but it never feels unfair.
