What drives the score
How to read this
Every input gets a grade, S to D, read from the buyer's side. The score is multiplicative, so an input only counts as raising when it sits near the top of its own scale. Anything with real room left is holding the score back, because that room is the gap to 100. ▲ marks a lift, ▼ a drag or a dock, ? an input we do not have, • a fact this genre's score does not use. The exact weights stay secret.
The value story
The lowest price on record is $2.79, set in August 2025. Its cuts run 20 percent off as a rule. There have been 18 in the 3 years tracked, about 9 weeks apart. Today it is at full price. The last sale was about 2 weeks ago, and on this game's rhythm the next one tends to arrive within 9 weeks.
Value puts it in the top 4 percent of the games it competes with. It is cheaper than 75 percent of its genre, and better reviewed than 98 percent. Among the games that feel like it, Amnesia: The Dark Descent ($19.99, scores 71) beats it on value, while it beats Visage ($34.99, scores 44).
75 of the 800 Steam-purchase reviews sampled here come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written February 2024 to August 2026. That is more refunded reviewers than 9 in 10 paid games this site has sampled to the same depth, and among the 2,864 games in its genre sampled this deeply, 74 have a larger share. The typical game sits near 5 in 1,000, so the score docks it. 1 of the 75 refunded reviewers was past Valve's two-hour window when they wrote the review. Inside the two-hour refund window, 92 percent of the 8,612 reviews written there were positive, against 93 percent overall, and those are 79 percent of everything written about it.

What players say
I'm not normally one for horror of any type, but The Exit 8 was more than worth the time to check out. It's rooted in the same contemporary scene of liminal horror as works like The Backrooms, focusing on building an unsettling tension as you find yourself walking through looping subway corridors. The trick is that at any time there can be an "anomaly" which, if unnoticed, resets you back to the beginning of the...
This game is rage bait in the best way. Also if you guys could make the fact that he's wearing a thong more obvious that would be awesome, thanks!
Very good, quick game! I'm not usually one for jump scare horror, but I think this game does just that quite well. I enjoy how subtle the game is, and the lack of background music really adds to the unsettling experience. I also appreciate that, once you've escaped, you get to go back with a countdown to find the remainder of the anomalies. This was a small, but wonderful touch for completionists.

The Exit 8 scores 66/100 on the BANG Score (fair value). The BANG Score rates what a game is worth for the money. Via Steam BANGERS. https://steambangers.com/game/2653790/the-exit-8The BANG Score is one number for value, 0 to 100: price against how it reviews and how long it was built to be. It answers the money question and stops there; whether the game is for you is still your call.
Reviews set the ceiling and price moves you inside it, so a cheap game that reviews badly cannot climb. Ratings from few reviewers are shrunk toward the middle, so 100 percent from nine people does not outrank 96 percent from ninety thousand. Length comes from HowLongToBeat where it can be matched, measured against a per-genre floor so a five-hour narrative game is judged against other narrative games rather than against a sixty-hour RPG. Where no verified length exists the score says so and carries a dock, because the biggest input is then a guess. The full method, including where it is weak → Steam reviews as of Aug 2, price as of Sep 22.
