The value story

September 2025 is where it bottomed out, at $1.94. It has been discounted 25 times in the 2 years tracked here, typically at 31 percent off, with about 5 weeks between sales. Today it is at full price, and its last discount ended about 3 weeks ago. The math puts its BANGER price at $4.18. The record reaches that level 10 times.

Against its own genre it lands in the top 1 percent on value. It is cheaper than 67 percent of its genre, and better reviewed than 99 percent. Among the games that feel like it, Murders on the Yangtze River ($14.99, scores 94) beats it on value, while it beats Loco Motive ($17.99, scores 72).

Steam's global achievement data puts 90 percent of players at this game's ending achievement. The median game this site can measure sits at 15. Of the 338 Steam-purchase reviews this site sampled, none come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written April 2024 to August 2026. Inside the two-hour refund window, 96 percent of the 759 reviews written there were positive, against 96 percent overall, and those are 81 percent of everything written about it.

At 1.3 hours it is a handheld-sized game, and Valve rates it Deck Verified.

What players say

One case in the world of the series... it works, but I'd recommend getting this on a sale. It's short and not very difficult (Max 2-4 hours if you achievement hunt), but you should play this after the much larger (better) first game if you want to avoid spoiling it. As a short smth to keep us exited for the new game, it's not bad. As an actual short detective game, I'm not sure I'd recommend it unless it's on sale.

The deductions you're required to make aren't nearly as satisfying as they were in "Case," and the full runtime is a fraction of the average length of the episodes in that game. Unfortunately the story is also quite mediocre in comparison, with the only real saving graces being the investigation's central subject and the rules of his revival skill, as well as a few major reveals. I suppose, though, due to its short...

A really nice detective story! It's not incredibly gripping, but the supernatural abilities are fascinating and it gets by with rule of cool. Reminiscent of Of the Devil.
