This is a thumbs up, but a very weak one. Never played the originals. There's just not enough meat in core gameplay to sustain 20+ hours. Game gets very repetetive. Also the credits soon lose any meaning as theres not enough money sinks, I got over 300k by the end. It's basically a "reimagining" of Star Control II. Different aliens, different story, same beautifully corny star trek jokes and a VERY similar overall playstyle. If you like space-themed adventure RPGs, you will enjoy this. If you are a fan of the original SC2...and can get past the shock of "Wait, who is that? Where's Fwuffo? I purchased this game close to when it was first released and enjoyed it, but real life became busy at the time and I never got into the meatier parts of the game -- until recently.
