What drives the score

How to read this

Grades run S to D, read from the buyer's side. ▲ marks a lift, ▼ a drag or a dock, ? an input we do not have, • a fact this genre's score does not use. How the grades work

What we assumed
  • Steam lists in-app purchases but we have no detail on them. Small caution applied.

Reviews49% positive

MonetizationIn-app purchases
Steam lists in-app purchases and nothing more is known, so a small haircut

Denuvo copy protection, a small friction discount
Refunds25 of 800 reviews
Well above the typical game's share of reviews from refunded buyers, so the score takes a small dock

The value story

The lowest price on record is $9.99, set in January 2025. 22 discounts in the 3 years on record. They run about 70 percent off, roughly 6 weeks apart. Today's $11.99 at 70 percent off still sits 20 percent above the floor, so a deeper cut exists in its history.

It is pricier than 98 percent of its genre, and less well reviewed than 99 percent. The games it most resembles do better on the same math. Highrise City ($29.99, scores 31) and Planet Coaster 2 ($49.99, scores 32) both outscore it.

25 of the 800 Steam-purchase reviews sampled here come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written April 2024 to August 2026. That is more refunded reviewers than 9 in 10 paid games this site has sampled to the same depth, and among the 2,725 games in its genre sampled this deeply, 207 have a larger share. The typical game sits near 5 in 1,000, so the score docks it. 3 of the 25 refunded reviewers were past Valve's two-hour window when they wrote the review. Inside the two-hour refund window, 21 percent of the 216 reviews written there were positive, against 49 percent overall, and those are 18 percent of everything written about it.

What players say

This game series since settlers 7 has been trying too hard to switch genres from city builder RTS to competitive RTS and it doesn't have the weight or audience to try and become the latter genre. Whilst it does this far better then settlers 7. I miss the style of the old settlers where you gradually built up an settlement and army while doing quests on a large map, that isn't designed as a competitive arena. For...

Look the campaign was fun but they used AI for the story vids and the storyline so not that great. Also you can only play 1v1 against AI and no other bigger maps w/o playing with others and no one plays the PVP or Group vs AI either so you can only play on a 1v1 map ever. Other Skirmish RTS games have it to where you can play on big maps for up to 8 people and you can still only have 1v1 on the map but not with this...
