This game did not click for me. It was all good fun in the beginning when I started following my hunches through the search box. A name here, a repeating phrase there and I was diving into the story. I quickly realized that keeping notes would be required, so I started an index and a timeline on paper. As I was developing a picture of what had happened, new revelations constantly forced me to revise said picture...
I've played a lot of detective style games as of late, Roottrees, Obra Dinn, Golden Idol, TR-49, ect. When speaking to a friend they said I should check out Her Story. If you are like me and are coming from those titles...this is NOT that kind of game. It is a narrative game where the story is out of order and you have to piece it together. It may count as a detective game by definition, but it lacks something...
