The value story
It has never been cheaper than $4.49. That was June 2018. Its cuts run 80 percent off as a rule. There have been 98 in the 9 years tracked, about 4 weeks apart.
It is pricier than 90 percent of its genre, and less well reviewed than 96 percent. The games it most resembles do better on the same math. FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage Collector's Edition ($19.99, scores 72) and FlatOut 2 ($9.99, scores 95) both outscore it.
This site sampled 799 of its Steam-purchase reviews; 11 were written by buyers who refunded it, sampled from reviews written April 2020 to September 2026. Inside the two-hour refund window, 37 percent of the 693 reviews written there were positive, against 53 percent overall, and those are 36 percent of everything written about it.
The main story runs 9.9 hours. Doing everything runs 28, 2.9 times as long.
Valve rates it Steam Deck Verified, and at 9.9 hours it is short enough to finish on one.

What players say
I think the sentence that would describe the acquisition of this 'game' best is that you didn't buy a game, you got yourself a day job. Somehow a game that's supposed to offer dumb hight speed derby fun gives you the exact opposite. The devs of this thing must have a doctorate in removal of fun. The tracks are treacherous and unforgiving, the cars are boring. Fun is punished, you have to drive cleanly and precisely...
The mechanics are absolutely awful, the car randomly flies off of the track, and it often fails to steer or brake. Also, there is not that much diversity in the tracks you're racing on. Too bad, the graphics are quite nice though.
Flat2vr chose THIS flatout game to convert? this game feels like I am driving an rc car. The physics only works sometimes ramdomly flipping you on a blade of grass. The graphics at MAX are terrible. the damage system might as well not show anything. because all you get is a slightly bent and squished car/texture. why couldn't flat2vr do flatout 2? ITS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THIS PIECE OF TRASH!
