If you have an interest in traditional roguelikes I couldn't think of a better place to start. Some elements are simplified but there is still enough crunchy depth here to get your teeth into and most importantly it plays beautifully. Once you've mastered this; check out Infra Arcana, Sil Q and ToME.

Simple controls and inventory, but nice depth in gameplay. Theme is nice and unique.
The worst hotel experience ever. First, when arriving, there is no lobby, I couldn't check in. After wandering for a while I was attacked by a pale man who bursted into flames after stepping into sunlight. There are wild animals roaming the halls, and the only normal looking people I've met were smelly mercenary types carrying weapons and mumbling under their breath. There is no elevator, I had to crawl up the...
