I played this in 2026 and themes like pandemics, conspiracies and a couple characters on both sides of the political aisles are depicted, without feeling exclusionary nor awkward in retrospect. Very, very good modern adventure game, but not quite great. Definitely worth playing, if only for the literal LOL quips - the writing is fantastic, as is the voice acting, which is very unusual coming from a German (or any non-native English speaking) dev.
