The value story
The lowest price on record is $1.99, set in November 2024. 48 discounts in the 9 years on record. They run about 75 percent off, roughly 8 weeks apart. Today it is at full price, and its last discount ended about 3 weeks ago.
On value it sits in the top 12 percent of its genre. It is pricier than 72 percent of its genre, and better reviewed than 78 percent. The nearest things to it, Battlezone 98 Redux ($19.99, scores 71) and Freeman: Guerrilla Warfare ($24.99, scores 14), are both worse buys on this math.
Critics scored it 68. Players sit 22 points higher at 90 percent, which usually means a game that plays better than it reviews.
This site sampled 340 of its Steam-purchase reviews; none were written by buyers who refunded it, sampled from reviews written April 2020 to July 2026. Inside the two-hour refund window, 69 percent of the 119 reviews written there were positive, against 90 percent overall, and those are 14 percent of everything written about it.

What players say
A fantastic game from my childhood. While I honestly prefer the first one (Battlezone 98 Redux) this game is timeless, super fun to revisit, and something I'd highly recommend anyone and everyone to try out at least once.
I played the old games on PC when I was a kid in the 90's. This game updates a lot of stuff so it is still functional. The graphics are decent, and the resolution has been updated to support newer monitors. If you want to try an unique experience blending RTS and FPS this is it.
BZCC is a pretty good PvP game part of a series i grew up on and enjoyed through my childhood. a great mix of FPS/RTS not seen in modern games but sadly it has died off. a lost gem
