The value story
September 2025 is where it bottomed out, at $4.49. 68 discounts in the 7 years on record. They run about 67 percent off, roughly 5 weeks apart.
Against its own genre it lands in the top 15 percent on value. It is pricier than 97 percent of its genre, and better reviewed than 76 percent. Among the games that feel like it, Unity of Command: Stalingrad Campaign ($9.99, scores 52) beats it on value, while it beats Steel Division 2 ($39.99, scores 41).
Critics scored it 88, but players land 8 points lower at 80 percent. The reviews were kinder than the room.
9 of the 631 Steam-purchase reviews sampled here come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written April 2020 to August 2026. Inside the two-hour refund window, 39 percent of the 176 reviews written there were positive, against 80 percent overall, and those are 9 percent of everything written about it.
It carries Valve's Deck Verified rating, which is the one that means it just works.

A real strategy gem hidden underneath paper thin tutorialization. It's into the breach meets go. Big recommend, worth the trouble.
Great concept. Implemented poorly. Very poorly. Just let me replay a scenario when failed without some random punishment. Some warnings when obvious mistakes are made, but no warnings for others. And the list goes on and on. Looks like the devs spend plenty of time on DLC while keeping the core in a poor state.
