Jupiter Hell was my first foray into the traditional roguelike genre, which was a corner of gaming that I'd always been curious about but couldn't muster up enough courage to explore, at least until a friend recommended this title to me. With its relatively short run length of 3 to 4 hours and an easily digestible visual presentation, Jupiter Hell was considered one of the more "approachable" and "beginner-friendly"...
I don't know if these are the same people but this is basically D00M the Roguelike remade with cover mechanics and a wider selection of guns and enemies. I. LOVE. IT! If I had to level any its that I can't shove spare armor or weapons into my inventory or unload the ammo from guns like I could in D00MRL, but I also enjoy the extra challenge of not being able to do so. Disclaimer: Most of my hours are on the Switch version. The Sonic of rogue-likes. Highly recommend, whenever I get the itch for another actual rogue-like, i boot this because it's the gold standard in my opinion of bringing the "rogue" format into the modern day.
