What drives the score
How to read this

About the game
A pixel-art sci-fi adventure set in the midst of a rebellion against a totalitarian regime, LUNARK is a modern take on the 2D cinematic platformer genre of the '90s. Run, jump, hang, climb, roll, and shoot your way through gorgeous and mysterious locations!

More about LUNARK
Critics scored it 74. Players sit 13 points higher at 87 percent, which usually means a game that plays better than it reviews.
Steam's global achievement data puts about 5 percent of players at this game's ending achievement. On a 4.5-hour game, the hours short of it still count in its price per hour. This site sampled 213 of its Steam-purchase reviews; 1 was written by a buyer who refunded it, sampled from reviews written March 2023 to August 2026.
Valve rates it Steam Deck Verified, and at 4.5 hours it is short enough to finish on one.

What players say
Since this is an another world/flashback homage/clone it is only natural that people are comparing the game to it, so it's gonna have it tough since the expectations are high. And compared to the original this sucks. If you manage to grind through the first most boring 4 levels of your life ever the game gets a little bit better but is still kind of lame. The progression is too slow and not challenging enough...

At first glance, LUNARK appeared promising as a modern cinematic platformer. However, as I progressed through each stage, the experience increasingly felt like a derivative work heavily modeled on classics such as Another World and Flashback. The game borrows extensively from those titles, including character animations, enemy designs, environmental interactions (such as the foot scanner for opening doors), ally...
If anyone has played Prince of Persia or Flashback this will feel very familiar. For anyone who hasn't played those games the controls may seem different to what you're used to but stick with it. While very much in the mould of earlier cinematic platformers, it has enough of its own innovations in playability to feel like an advancement. Care has also been taken to reduce some of the clunk of those earlier games. As...
