I don't usually write reviews, but this game genuinely made me want to write one. Alan Wake isn't your typical horror game filled with cheap jumpscares and endless running from monsters. It feels like a book that you don't just read, you actually live through it. Absolutely beautiful game. It really does justice to the psychological horror genre. The story is beautifully written, the characters are memorable and the world design is just the cherry on top. Huge kudos to Sam Lake for his work on this. Man he's easily become one of my fav game directors and writers at this point. The only thing that felt a bit off to me was the combat and movement. I really hope Remedy gives...
I'm only recommending it for the story. I hated the gameplay for the most part. The guns feel terrible, and out of place. I think it would've been a better gameplay experience if the Taken died via the flashlight, instead of it removing their invulnerability shield, then having to shoot them. It just makes the combat longer than it needs to be. Otherwise, the story is really well made, the voice acting holds up...
