What drives the score
How to read this
Every input gets a grade, S to D, read from the buyer's side. The score is multiplicative, so an input only counts as raising when it sits near the top of its own scale. Anything with real room left is holding the score back, because that room is the gap to 100. ▲ marks a lift, ▼ a drag or a dock, ? an input we do not have, • a fact this genre's score does not use. The exact weights stay secret.
The value story
The lowest price on record is $8.99, set in May 2026. Its cuts run 60 percent off as a rule. There have been 35 in the 6 years tracked, about 5 weeks apart. Today it is at full price. The last sale was about 6 weeks ago, and on this game's rhythm the next one tends to arrive within 5 weeks.
Value puts it in the top 41 percent of the games it competes with. It is pricier than 99 percent of its genre, and less well reviewed than 66 percent. Total War: WARHAMMER II ($59.99, scores 87) outscores it, and so does Total War: WARHAMMER ($59.99, scores 54). Both sit among its closest neighbours.
Critics scored it 86, but players land 15 points lower at 71 percent. The reviews were kinder than the room.
Steam's global achievement data puts 28 percent of players at this game's ending achievement. The median game this site can measure sits at 8. Players rate it 71 percent positive over its lifetime, and the last 30 days run 81 percent. It is aging into a better game than its average suggests. 6 of the 499 Steam-purchase reviews sampled here come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written in August 2026. Inside the two-hour refund window, 39 percent of the 4,234 reviews written there were positive, against 71 percent overall, and those are 4 percent of everything written about it.

What players say
This game made me discover the Warhammer universe, even though I was already familiar with the TW franchise (Empire, Napoleon, Attila, Three Kingdoms), and before getting into what I like in this game, I'd like to tackle the most common comments I see here: -Yes, the DLCs and the 3 games together are quite expensive, but it's not a single-player play-and-forget 6-hour campaign, it's a game with massive...
As of version 8.1, the Reikland campaign in the Immortal Empires mode on VH/VH might just be the pinnacle of the "against all odds" strategy gameplay: poor Karl is besieged on all fronts, having to run around and put out progressively more devastating fires while the useless elector counts happily let their provinces get overrun by grotesque monstrosities. 50 hours of tense back-and-forth gameplay later (unless you...
The AI is bad, the siege mechanics are bad, and there are far too many DLCs. Some races are ridiculously overpowered when played by the player, while others feel completely broken when controlled by the AI. On top of that, the game becomes repetitive and boring after around 30 turns, with very little keeping the campaign engaging in the long run. 1/10 I will play again

Total War: WARHAMMER III scores 33/100 on the BANG Score (a skip). The BANG Score rates what a game is worth for the money. Via Steam BANGERS. https://steambangers.com/game/1142710/total-war-warhammer-iiiThe BANG Score is one number for value, 0 to 100: price against how it reviews and how long it was built to be. It answers the money question and stops there; whether the game is for you is still your call.
Reviews set the ceiling and price moves you inside it, so a cheap game that reviews badly cannot climb. Ratings from few reviewers are shrunk toward the middle, so 100 percent from nine people does not outrank 96 percent from ninety thousand. Length comes from HowLongToBeat where it can be matched, measured against a per-genre floor so a five-hour narrative game is judged against other narrative games rather than against a sixty-hour RPG. Where no verified length exists the score says so and carries a dock, because the biggest input is then a guess. The full method, including where it is weak → Steam reviews as of Aug 2, price as of Sep 24.
