What drives the score
How to read this
Every input gets a grade, S to D, read from the buyer's side. The score is multiplicative, so an input only counts as raising when it sits near the top of its own scale. Anything with real room left is holding the score back, because that room is the gap to 100. ▲ marks a lift, ▼ a drag or a dock, ? an input we do not have, • a fact this genre's score does not use. The exact weights stay secret.
The value story
It has never been cheaper than $35.99. That was December 2023. 11 discounts in the 5 years on record. They run about 35 percent off, roughly 14 weeks apart. Today it is at full price. The last sale was about 27 weeks ago, and on this game's rhythm the next one tends to arrive within 14 weeks. The math puts its BANGER price at $57.55. The record reaches that level 11 times.
Against its own genre it lands in the top 1 percent on value. It is pricier than 99 percent of its genre, and better reviewed than 97 percent. It outscores the games it most resembles, including DARK SOULS™ II ($39.99, scores 72) and DARK SOULS™ III ($59.99, scores 77).
10 of the 800 Steam-purchase reviews sampled here come from buyers who refunded the game, sampled from reviews written August 2026 to September 2026. Inside the two-hour refund window, 55 percent of the 21,565 reviews written there were positive, against 93 percent overall, and those are 3 percent of everything written about it.
The main story runs 60 hours. Doing everything runs 136, 2.3 times as long.
4 years after release it still had 29.5K people in it at once.
It carries Valve's Deck Verified rating, which is the one that means it just works.

What players say
Elden Ring was my first souls game. I started on PS4 and got the platinum, then did the same on PS5, and now I've finally 100% completed it on Steam. After playing it this much, I can easily say it's one of my favorite games of all time. The world, exploration, bosses, builds, there's just so much to this game, and I never got tired of coming back to it. If you've never played a souls game before, I still highly...
I'm lost for words. I'm playing this with Luke Ross's RealVR mod. It's simply unbelievable. I'm 56 and when I was young all I wanted was a computer game which was AD&D. This is it. I bought my first pc just to play Doom 1993. I've sim rigged. I've battlefielded. I've answered the Call of Duty. But this game. This game. Fromsoft DS1 to here. And each one you can VR. DS1, 2 and 3. And I don't even like DS1 and 2 ...
Amazing game 10 out of 10 May make you angry majority of the time but you still love it

ELDEN RING scores 84/100 on the BANG Score (worth it). The BANG Score rates what a game is worth for the money. Via Steam BANGERS. https://steambangers.com/game/1245620/elden-ringThe BANG Score is one number for value, 0 to 100: price against how it reviews and how long it was built to be. It answers the money question and stops there; whether the game is for you is still your call.
Reviews set the ceiling and price moves you inside it, so a cheap game that reviews badly cannot climb. Ratings from few reviewers are shrunk toward the middle, so 100 percent from nine people does not outrank 96 percent from ninety thousand. Length comes from HowLongToBeat where it can be matched, measured against a per-genre floor so a five-hour narrative game is judged against other narrative games rather than against a sixty-hour RPG. Where no verified length exists the score says so and carries a dock, because the biggest input is then a guess. The full method, including where it is weak → Steam reviews as of Sep 10, price as of Sep 24.
